Jerry Garcia is a native of Los Angeles, California who is too old to
have been named after
The Grateful Dead guitar hero. He spent his
childhood fearing
the bomb and was a teenager during the Summer of
Love
. He studied Communication Arts at Loyola Marymount
University during the Watergate Era and became a film editor the
year Woody Allen won the Academy Award for best Direction. He has
been a producer and editor of television commercials, documentaries
and motion picture previews.  Jerry lives by the motto
“need something
done, ask a busy person
” and a philosophy of “don’t run when you can
walk, don’t walk when you can stand and don’t stand when you can sit.”

Jerry's interest in poetry resurfaced in the 1990’s when he attended
Laurel Ann Bogen's poetry class at the UCLA Extension Writer’s
Program.  He continues "woodshedding" with Michael C Ford and
others.  He has been a featured poet at venues throughout Los
Angeles, including Beyond Baroque, The World Stage, Skylight Book
Store and the Los Angeles Central Library Aloud Series as part of the
2006 Newer Poets XI. His poetry and photography have been seen in
the likes of  the
Chiron Review, Askew, KCET’s Departures: Poetry L.A.
Style, Palabra Magazine
and The Night Goes On All Night: Noir
Inspired Poems edited by Rick Lupert.
 He has published several
chapbooks including
Hitchhiking with the Guilty.  He is a past
director of the Valley Contemporary Poets and has served on Beyond
Baroque's Board of Trustees.
Jerry has three daughters, Alison, Emily and
Rosalie. He lives in Studio City with his
awesome wife Becky and  their dog Japhy.
